Director, Software Engineering: Java

Location: Dallas, TX, United States; hybrid work with up to 2 days per week remote

Salary: $172,700–$286,800 per year; annual discretionary incentive target of 23%–30%

What you will do

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers.
• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, resilient, cloud-based clearing applications.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, vendors, and business stakeholders on complex multi-system projects.
• Develop, test, troubleshoot, debug, and document software solutions for complex technical challenges.
• Optimize application performance and resilience through code refactoring, system tuning, and technical analysis.
• Recommend architectural changes, technologies, and tools that improve system quality and engineering efficiency.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience building large-scale, high-speed, compute-intensive, and event-driven distributed solutions.
• 8+ years of experience in team building, management, and mentoring.
• Strong experience with Java 8+, object-oriented design, advanced patterns, and multithreading.
• Experience with distributed message brokers such as Kafka or Amazon Kinesis, Git workflows, and various database types.
• Experience with cloud technologies and migrations, preferably AWS foundational services.
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with JUnit, Citrus, monitoring tools, and frameworks such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, or AppDynamics.
• OCP Java SE 8 Programmer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification.
• Master’s degree in a related technical field.
