Product Counsel (AI)

Location: Remote, US

Salary: $191,000–$293,000 annual base salary, plus equity awards and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide practical legal advice on product-related matters in domestic and international markets.
• Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Strategy throughout the product lifecycle to identify risks and support go-to-market initiatives.
• Advise on AI policies, liability, licensing, responsible AI development and deployment, governance, and risk assessments.
• Develop product compliance processes covering privacy, data security, export controls, and trade compliance.
• Negotiate inbound and outbound license agreements, participate in open-source reviews, and review product and marketing materials.
• Support privacy-by-design initiatives, incident response, contract negotiations, and intellectual property strategy, including patent and trademark portfolio management.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution.
• Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar.
• At least 5 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, government agency, or in-house environment.
• Substantive experience with software, SaaS, or related technology businesses.
• Familiarity with AI legal considerations, governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF and the EU AI Act, and related regulations.
• Working knowledge of global privacy laws, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
