Commercial Counsel (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA preferred, or remote in the United States/Americas; UTC-3 to UTC-10 overlap.

Salary: $251,000–$272,000 per year, plus eligibility for up to $100,000 in annual performance bonuses and competitive equity.

What you will do

• Draft and negotiate enterprise customer agreements, data-licensing deals, vendor contracts, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
• Partner with sales and business development throughout live negotiations and take matters through signature.
• Advise on data rights, privacy, confidentiality, security, intellectual property, indemnification, and liability limits.
• Work with product and engineering on AI, data access, and technology questions.
• Build templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and approval thresholds for scalable deal execution.
• Support compliance programs, company policies, and escalation of novel matters.

Requirements

• 3–8 years of commercial, technology, or product counseling experience.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating technology agreements directly with counterparties and independently carrying deals to signature.
• Membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not currently available.
• Ability to advise business teams clearly, work effectively with engineers and salespeople, and identify when matters require escalation.
• Strong practical use of AI in legal practice.

Nice to have

• J.D. from a T14 law school or comparable academic credentials.
• Experience at an Am Law 100 or comparably sophisticated firm.
• Exposure to data licensing, privacy, intellectual property, or data-access issues.
