Embedded Software Developer – Level 3 (Aerospace)

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States

Base pay range: $150,931–$211,303 annually for Colorado applicants; $164,652–$230,512 annually for Washington applicants. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded C/C++ software for high-voltage power systems, avionics, and electric propulsion hardware.
• Develop low-level drivers and firmware for embedded hardware platforms.
• Collaborate with Electrical Circuit and FPGA Designers on hardware/software integration.
• Support hardware bring-up, debugging, verification, and troubleshooting using laboratory and JTAG tools.
• Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, documentation, and all stages of the software development lifecycle.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, automated regression, verification, and validation tests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience with C/C++.
• Experience with real-time operating systems, hardware/software interfaces, FPGA interfaces, and register-level hardware integration.
• Knowledge of SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, and similar communications protocols.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers; familiarity with Git and software development lifecycle practices.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Aerospace or safety-critical systems development experience.
• Firmware development for custom hardware platforms and experience with CAN or Ethernet.
• Python or Bash scripting for automation.
• Agile, DevOps, and continuous integration experience.
