Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. The role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information and candidates must be a U.S. person.

Salary: $75,000–$120,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain embedded C/C++ software for single-board computers and VxWorks real-time operating systems.
• Bring up hardware and develop or debug device drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, LVDS, SpaceWire, and MIL-STD-1553 interfaces.
• Integrate software with analog and digital I/O, watchdog timers, processor peripherals, and custom hardware in collaboration with electrical, systems, and test engineers.
• Derive test requirements, create unit and regression tests, support integration testing, and investigate anomalies using logs, telemetry, and laboratory equipment.
• Participate in peer, code, design, and program reviews while supporting technical deliverables.
• Manage branches, baselines, releases, documentation, and defects using version control and Jira.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional embedded software development experience; aerospace or defense experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time and embedded systems, with experience developing and debugging with an RTOS.
• Experience with board support packages, device drivers, serial communications, and protocol-level debugging.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis across hardware and software interfaces.
• Experience with requirements, design, implementation, peer review, unit testing, regression testing, configuration management, and release processes.
• Must be a U.S. person due to export-controlled work.

Nice to have

• Experience with VxWorks 6.x/7.x and Wind River Workbench.
• Spacecraft or avionics single-board computer bring-up experience.
• Experience with SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553, static code analysis, secure coding, Perforce, Bitbucket, or formal release processes.
• Experience supporting SRR, PDR, CDR, or TRR program reviews and deliverables.
