R&D Co-Op (Medical Devices)

Location: Irving, Texas, United States of America; on-site work at the Irving, TX facility is required. Relocation is not provided.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech develops and manufactures science-based medical products for surgical procedures, including breast implants and tissue expanders.

What you will do

• Design, fabricate, and test prototypes using CAD and rapid prototyping.
• Create and modify part, assembly, and drawing files for components, prototypes, and test fixtures in SolidWorks.
• Develop and execute test methods to characterize new products.
• Evaluate prototypes through benchtop testing and support studies in preclinical models.
• Coordinate with marketing, external suppliers, and the manufacturing site.
• Perform hands-on work in the engineering lab and document activities.

Requirements

• Junior, senior, or graduate student at an accredited college or university during the co-op.
• Engineering coursework and laboratory experience.
• Ability to create and modify CAD drawings and design test fixtures.
• Strong organization and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States and must not require current or future employment visa sponsorship.
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week during the Spring 2027 semester and travel to the Irving, Texas site.

Nice to have

• Major in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0.
• Leadership or participation in campus programs or community service activities.
