Principal R&D Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; onsite role

Salary: $134,000–$231,150 per year

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for technology development projects and cross-functional teams from concept through commercialization.
• Design and develop disposable cardiovascular medical devices in accordance with design control, quality system, and regulatory requirements.
• Create prototypes, proof-of-concept designs, disease models, simulated test methods, and new product designs based on user needs.
• Collaborate with clinical and scientific advisors and key opinion leaders to translate clinical needs into optimized design solutions.
• Plan and perform in-vitro, in-vivo, verification, and validation testing, including protocols and reports.
• Support materials procurement, supplier relationships, pilot manufacturing, intellectual property development, and product documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with 10 years of engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with 8 years of engineering experience.
• Engineering experience in the medical device industry, including development of disposable medical devices.
• Knowledge of disposable peripheral and coronary device design, materials selection, testing, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Strong hands-on CAD experience with software such as SolidWorks.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing requirements, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively across organizational levels.
• Ability to work onsite in Santa Clara, California, and lift objects up to 25 pounds when required.

Nice to have

• Experience developing early-stage catheter-based cardiovascular devices.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of bioinformatics, biological engineering, biostatistics, clinical trial operations, SAP Product Lifecycle Management, or healthcare trends.
