Grid Applications Developer (Electric Grid)

Location: Hybrid role based in Texas, with on-site work required in Taylor, TX at least 2 days per week. Remote work must be performed from a Texas residence; employees may work on-site more frequently or full-time.

Salary: $87,000–$120,000 per year, with level determined by experience.

What you will do

• Develop and prototype operational awareness, analytical, visualization, and control-room tools.
• Build data displays and applications used by System Operators, Outage Coordinators, Operations Engineers, and Planning Engineers.
• Implement system modeling, monitor and control tools, system studies, and solutions for current and future grid issues.
• Collaborate with project teams to implement new tools and system changes in production.
• Evaluate and benchmark display and tool technologies, extend vendor applications, and improve related processes and training.
• Create documentation, test scripts, and functional tests for developed tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience for Level 2, 3 years for Level 3, 5 years for Senior Engineer, or 8 years for Lead Engineer.
• Ability to work on-site in Taylor, Texas at least 2 days per week and perform remote work from a Texas residence.
• Experience in the electric utility industry is preferred.
• Experience with application development, business requirements gathering, and front-, middle-, and back-end development.
• Professional Engineer certification is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaScript, Vue, Angular, Python, C#, single-page applications, PL/SQL, SQL, VBA, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with mapping software such as ArcGIS or Mapbox.
• Experience developing analytical tools for electric grid operations.
