Chief Engineer (Commercial Real Estate)

Location: Baltimore, MD, United States; on-site only. Remote and hybrid options are not available, and the role requires working on the property.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, drainage, elevator, security, fire, and life-safety systems.
• Supervise, hire, train, and develop engineering and maintenance staff.
• Review work orders, assign tasks, inspect completed work, and address recurring equipment problems.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs and maintain repair, maintenance, inventory, and utility records.
• Manage energy-efficiency initiatives, building management systems, vendors, and required materials.
• Coordinate with tenants, clients, property management, and vendors, including emergency response and maintenance scheduling.

Requirements

• Trade school training and at least 10 years of building operations experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 7 years of commercial property maintenance experience, including supervisory experience.
• Required trade licenses or permits, such as a Journeyman or Master Electrician license, refrigeration certificate, boiler license, or steam operator license.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, electrical systems, building automation, EMS, and fire alarm systems.
• Microsoft Office skills, strong organizational and analytical abilities, effective communication, and a customer-service orientation.
• Ability to work on-site, climb ladders and stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and work shifts, overtime, on-call assignments, or extended emergency periods.
