Senior Commercial Liability Claim Representative

Location: Diamond Bar, California, United States

Salary: $85,600–$141,200 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards and a sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve assigned severe general liability bodily injury and property damage claims.
• Analyze policy coverage, liability, damages, recovery potential, and settlement options while maintaining accurate claim files and timely communications.
• Manage litigated claims by developing litigation plans, selecting and directing counsel, attending legal proceedings, and controlling legal expenses.
• Coordinate internal and external resources, including coverage counsel, medical providers, investigators, experts, subrogation, and risk control specialists.
• Present cases at roundtables and authority discussions, develop creative resolution strategies, and handle claims within delegated authority.
• Mentor less experienced claim professionals and serve as a technical resource for field teams and business partners.

Requirements

• Two years of bodily injury liability claim handling experience or comparable litigation claim experience is required.
• Bachelor’s degree and preferably three years of bodily injury liability claim handling and/or litigation experience.
• Strong knowledge of coverage, contract interpretation, liability and damages analysis, policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, and claims handling practices.
• Experience evaluating severe and complex claims, managing litigation, negotiating settlements, and applying relevant case and statutory law.
• Intermediate capability in communication, negotiation, judgment, investigation, value determination, settlement techniques, medical knowledge, and insurance contract knowledge.
• An insurance license may be required and generally must be obtained within three months of starting; continuing education may also be required.
