Senior Staff Applications Engineer (Power Electronics)

What you will do

• Validate digital multiphase controllers and Smart Power Stages with applications, design, and test engineers.
• Evaluate power management algorithms in the laboratory using FPGAs, microcontrollers, and custom analog front ends.
• Build behavioral models of DC-DC converters and IC blocks with SIMPLIS and/or MATLAB.
• Develop evaluation boards, including component selection, PCB layout, and thermal design.
• Create datasheets, performance reports, and application notes for customer engagement.
• Collaborate with marketing, IC design, firmware, and systems engineering teams serving AI and cloud infrastructure markets.

Requirements

• MS or Ph.D. in power management, power electronics, or a related field; a thesis or dissertation focus is preferred.
• New college graduates with an MS or Ph.D. are eligible; an MS non-thesis candidate with two years of equivalent industry experience may also qualify.
• Strong understanding of DC/DC converters, multiphase buck converters, magnetics, control loop theory, and component selection.
• Proficiency with laboratory equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and waveform generators.
• Experience automating laboratory testing.
• Remote work is not available for this role.

Nice to have

• Embedded programming experience.
• Experience synthesizing Verilog code into an FPGA.
• Coursework or experience in digital systems, Verilog, and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
