TL;DR
Staff Power Electronics Engineer (EV Charging) (Power Electronics/EV Charging): Architecting and developing high-power AC and DC systems, converters, and grid-tie inverters for consumer and commercial EV chargers with an accent on multi-level topologies, embedded controls, thermal design, and regulatory compliance. Focus on designing 40–100 kW soft-switching converters and 100–200 kW four-quadrant inverters, validating reliability under stress, and resolving complex cross-functional engineering challenges.

Location: Campbell, California, United States. Some travel is expected.

Salary: $178,260–$235,750 per year, plus eligible RSU grants and annual merit-based RSU grants.

What you will do

  • Architect and design high-power AC and DC systems for consumer and commercial EV chargers.
  • Develop AC-to-DC and DC-to-DC converters, including soft-switching multi-level converters up to 100 kW and 2,000 VDC.
  • Design four-quadrant grid-tie inverters up to 200 kW for grid-interactive applications in Europe and North America.
  • Own product design activities including modelling, component selection, schematics, PCB layout, embedded code, magnetics, thermal design, compliance, and design for manufacturing.
  • Model and validate power designs using PLECS, MATLAB, and SPICE, with IC controllers, FPGAs/PLDs, and DSP-based digital controls.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and test teams to resolve architectural, laboratory, validation, reliability, and production challenges.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical, computer, or electronics engineering required; PhD preferred.
  • 8–12 years of experience bringing power electronics products to market.
  • Strong electrical and electronic design skills, including system-level engineering trade-offs.
  • Experience designing AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems.
  • Experience working across software, mechanical, power, thermal, and test engineering boundaries.
  • Current knowledge of consumer and industrial product standards.

  • Knowledge of EV charging standards.
