What you will do

  • Model and simulate sophisticated power electronics control systems before hardware validation.
  • Design control architectures for high-power bidirectional AC-DC and DC-DC converter systems.
  • Evaluate control approaches, trade-offs, and performance under edge-case scenarios.
  • Build and refine Hardware-in-the-Loop systems using Typhoon HIL.
  • Develop automated HIL test procedures, including fault injection and test-result analysis.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, systems, and regulatory engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a Power Electronics focus.
  • At least 2 years of experience developing power electronics products and Python scripting or automation.
  • Experience with grid-tied inverter systems for renewable energy integration, including solar, BESS, or EVSE.
  • Strong experience designing PI, PR, droop, and other controllers, with modeling and simulation in PLECS or MATLAB.
  • Experience with HIL testbed setup, real-time simulation, plant modeling, hardware interfaces, scripting, fault injection, and analysis.
  • Hands-on high-power laboratory experience, including debugging firmware-related hardware issues in power converters.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Typhoon HIL.
  • Knowledge of IEEE 1547-2018, IEEE 1547.1-2020, UL1741, California Rule 21, IEC 61851, or SunSpec Modbus.
