TL;DR
Senior RF Engineer - Transceiver Module (RF/Ka-band): Architecting, developing, and validating high-performance RF transceiver modules operating through Ka-band, with an accent on wideband signal paths, high-speed converters, clocking, and mixed-signal PWA integration. Focus on analyzing phase noise and aperture jitter, designing millimeter-wave circuitry and layouts, and characterizing hardware with laboratory test equipment.

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States. US citizenship is required, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Clearance.

Salary: $180,500–$285,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area, the range is $224,500–$336,500 annually.

Company

hirify.global develops communications technologies and advanced communications hardware for consumers, businesses, governments, and militaries worldwide.

What you will do

  • Architect wideband transmitter and receiver topologies, including superheterodyne, direct conversion, and direct RF synthesis or sampling, through Ka-band.
  • Select high-speed DACs and ADCs and analyze dynamic range, bandwidth, SFDR, power, clock trees, phase noise, and aperture jitter.
  • Design RF circuits, perform cascade analysis, develop schematics, and define high-frequency PWB layout constraints.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering on mixed-signal PWA implementation and noise-sensitive RF and analog power regulation.
  • Work with mechanical engineering on shielding cavities, thermal management, and packaging.
  • Conduct laboratory integration, tuning, and characterization using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of practical RF circuit and module development experience through Ka-band or millimeter-wave frequencies.
  • Expertise in RF transceiver architectures, direct RF synthesis, clocking architectures, frequency plans, and reference oscillator selection.
  • Experience with phase noise, aperture jitter, clock purity, high-frequency PWB layout, stack-up definition, and supplier technical management.
  • Proficiency with Keysight ADS, HFSS, Microwave Office, MATLAB, and millimeter-wave test equipment calibration and debugging.
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Clearance are required. Familiarity with AI tools for technical analysis, scripting, and workflow optimization is expected.

Nice to have

  • Experience with phased-array architectures, corporate feed and distribution networks, or phased-array testbeds.
  • Knowledge of JESD204B/C routing, clock distribution, power-supply noise rejection, environmental qualification, and EMI/EMC.

Culture & Benefits

  • Inclusive environment focused on positive impact and global communications challenges.
  • Regular employment with a compensation package that may include additional cash or stock incentives.
  • Medical, financial, and other benefits may be provided depending on the position.
