Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student (Opto-Mechanical)

Location: Ottawa, Canada — onsite five days a week

Pay: CAD $24–35 per hour

What you will do

• Create and modify 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies using CAD software.
• Support the development and validation of thermal management solutions for telecommunications systems.
• Develop and test prototypes for durability and compliance with industry standards.
• Perform dynamic analysis and shock and vibration testing.
• Prepare engineering drawings, bills of materials, technical documentation, calculations, reports, and presentations.
• Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, and project engineering teams.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least the second or third year of study is preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and basic engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with CAD tools and the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication, technical report writing, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Must be eligible to complete a background check.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Exposure to FEA or CFD analysis using Ansys or Icepak.
• Familiarity with machining, sheet metal fabrication, or 3D printing.
