Mechanical Engineering Intern (Aerospace) (CAD/Mechanical Components): Supporting the development, testing, and maintenance of mechanical aspects for reaction wheel and star tracker products with an accent on CAD design, engineering drawings, and hands-on assembly work. Focus on applying mechanical engineering concepts to real hardware challenges, collaborating across teams, and developing aerospace engineering skills under mentor guidance.

Location: Toronto, Canada; full-time, on-site for at least 16 consecutive weeks beginning May 3, 2027

Salary: CAD $60,008 per year

What you will do

  • Support the development, testing, and maintenance of mechanical aspects of reaction wheel and star tracker products.
  • Work with mentors and department employees to apply engineering concepts and develop technical and professional skills.
  • Use engineering and industry concepts to solve practical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attend regular 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors and provide progress updates.
  • Participate in technical talks and professional and social events with interns and employees.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a bachelor's program in mechanical or aerospace engineering and have at least one semester remaining after the internship.
  • Have experience designing parts and assemblies and preparing engineering drawings with CAD software such as Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
  • Have hands-on experience with mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Have at least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
  • Be able to work full-time on-site in Toronto for a minimum of 16 consecutive weeks beginning May 3, 2027.

Nice to have

  • GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • At least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
  • Experience building electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with structural and thermal finite element analysis.
  • Python experience.
