Intermediate / Multi Track File Handler (Employers' Liability and Public Liability Claims)

What you will do

• Manage a mixed caseload of non-delegated Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims, predominantly Intermediate and Multi Track matters valued between £25,000 and £100,000.
• Handle cases from pre-litigation through conclusion, assessing liability, causation, and quantum and providing commercially focused advice.
• Develop case strategies, identify investigation and evidence requirements, and progress files through the case management system.
• Draft defences, witness statements, pleadings, reports, and other legal documentation.
• Attend hearings, trials, settlement conferences, and other proceedings in person or remotely as required.
• Supervise, mentor, and coach junior colleagues while contributing to audits, performance targets, and client service delivery.

Requirements

• Proven experience handling Employers' Liability and Public Liability Intermediate and/or Multi Track claims.
• Strong technical legal knowledge and practical litigation experience.
• Experience supervising or supporting colleagues in a legal environment, with strong mentoring and coaching skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, client relationship, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, work under pressure, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Proficiency with case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice to have

• Experience handling litigated retail Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims.
• Experience attending hearings, settlement conferences, and trials.
