Coordinating Editor - Politics, MS NOW Digital (Weekends)

Location: Washington, D.C.; must be willing to work in Washington, D.C. Schedule is 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, with adjustments possible during breaking news. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States is required.

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead timely breaking political news coverage during nights and weekends.
• Identify key storylines and coordinate with the Washington bureau, breaking news teams, reporters, and platform teams.
• Support coverage of the 2028 presidential campaign, campaign events, scoops, primary nights, and election results.
• Edit and occasionally write breaking news and enterprise articles across digital platforms.
• Manage live blog coverage and help optimize headlines, push alerts, newsletters, and homepage presentation.
• Collaborate across editorial and platform teams to improve reader engagement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 8+ years of newsroom experience and 8+ years in a strictly digital newsroom.
• Experience with breaking news and political news.
• Excellent writing, editing, and rapid-accuracy skills.
• Strong news judgment and knowledge of journalistic standards.
• Willingness to work in Washington, D.C. and unrestricted U.S. work authorization.
