Salary: $212,000–$274,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead a player-coach engineering team building the computation layer for payroll, money movement, and tax calculation.
• Set technical direction, prioritize projects, and execute quarterly roadmaps with Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Scale tax and money movement capabilities, improve financial ledger integrity, and develop robust payroll data interfaces.
• Coordinate with cross-functional and engineering teams to clarify requirements and identify improvements.
• Mentor, hire, develop, and retain engineers while promoting technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Guide technical decisions and improve internal workflows and user experiences.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production web applications.
• At least 1 year of experience managing an engineering team.
• Experience prioritizing, crafting, and achieving plans.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Empathy, interpersonal skills, and a solid understanding of data structures, data stores, algorithms, distributed systems, and common web development patterns.
• Technologies include Golang, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, MySQL, Kafka, AWS, Git, Memcache, Redis, Elasticsearch, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, CircleCI, and Datadog.
