Cloud Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid schedule with three days per week onsite in the San Francisco FiDi or Culver City office; San Francisco, CA salary range

Salary: $203,000–$275,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead, coach, hire, and develop cloud, DevOps, and database reliability engineers across local and offshore locations.
• Own the Cloud Engineering roadmap, including the governed EKS platform, pilot-light disaster recovery, Postgres upgrades, and edge gateway consolidation.
• Drive software supply chain security and SDLC hygiene through SBOMs, signed provenance, hardened golden images, and policy-as-code admission control.
• Own cloud on-call operations and incident response, including SLAs, runbooks, blameless post-mortems, and action-item follow-through.
• Improve developer experience through ephemeral environments, faster pipelines, self-service infrastructure, and DORA metrics.
• Manage cloud and observability spend and represent Cloud Engineering in audits and regulatory reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE, including 2+ years managing engineers in a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization.
• Deep production-scale AWS expertise across networking, IAM, compute, storage, and cost management.
• Strong Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code experience with EKS, Terraform, Helm, GitOps, and ArgoCD.
• Experience owning CI/CD with GitLab pipelines, artifact and secrets management with Vault, and release safety.
• Production on-call, incident response, observability, OpenTelemetry, SLOs, and error-budget experience.
• Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineers, including remote and offshore team members.

Nice to have

• AI-assisted engineering workflows, including Claude best practices.
• Experience with regulated environments, SOC 1/SOC 2, FINRA or SEC examinations, and evidence automation.
• Experience with Kong, Envoy, Gateway API, Postgres operations, Teleport, Vault, Karpenter, or policy engines such as OPA Gatekeeper and Kyverno.
• Experience running disaster recovery tabletop exercises and GameDays.
• Knowledge of brokerage platforms and the financial services industry.
