TL;DR
Lead Power Plant Technician (Combined-Cycle Power Generation): Operating and coordinating the operation of a combined-cycle generating facility, power plant equipment, turbines, boilers, control systems, and auxiliary systems with an accent on safe, compliant shift operations. Focus on directing employees and contractors, troubleshooting plant controls, coordinating maintenance and market operations, and managing lockout/tagout, confined-space, and other safety procedures.

Location: Vicinity Kendall, 265 1st St, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time role with a rotating shift schedule.

Salary: $67.42 per hour

What you will do

  • Operate combined-cycle generating facilities, turbines, boilers, generators, and auxiliary power plant equipment through control room interfaces and locally.
  • Monitor plant conditions, take readings, maintain operating logs, report equipment issues, and document maintenance actions.
  • Coordinate shift operations with commercial operations, energy market entities, maintenance teams, contractors, and external organizations.
  • Direct and coordinate employees, contractors, crafts, work sequences, shift activities, job briefings, and safety orientations.
  • Manage equipment clearances and operational safety activities, including lockout/tagout, confined-space entry, hot-work permits, and incident reporting.
  • Troubleshoot plant control systems, support operating procedure development, and ensure compliance with environmental permits and facility policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active Massachusetts Second Class Engineer's License.
  • Ability to obtain a Massachusetts Grade 2 Industrial Wastewater Treatment License within the first six months of employment.
  • At least six years of experience operating gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, heat recovery steam generators, high-pressure boilers, air compressors, water treatment equipment, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between plant operations and energy markets, basic computer literacy, and the ability to instruct and direct others.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on a rotating shift schedule; physical and drug screening are required before employment.

Nice to have

  • Ability to read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Good safety record.
