Senior Control Room Operator - Operations Plant Technician

Location: Klamath Falls, Oregon, United States; on-site plant operations

Salary: $47.50–$52.75 per hour, dependent on experience and location. The role includes 208 hours of built-in overtime and follows a modified Dupont schedule.

What you will do

• Operate and supervise power generation equipment across all watch stations, maintaining safe, efficient, permitted, and environmentally compliant plant operations.
• Lead on-watch technicians, coordinate maintenance activities, approve safety clearances and tag-outs, and supervise contractors and vendors.
• Evaluate steady-state, transient, and upset plant conditions; troubleshoot complex issues; direct repairs, calibration, and corrective actions.
• Oversee water treatment facilities, laboratory result evaluation, emissions and discharge monitoring, and bulk and specialty chemical handling.
• Train, qualify, and mentor plant operations staff while supporting technical, safety, environmental, purchasing, and continuous improvement programs.
• Communicate with hirify.global Power Energy Management, balancing authority operators, network control center operators, and on-site staff to manage generation requirements and optimize output.

Requirements

• Seven years of experience as a Control Room Operator or Plant Tech Operator in power plant operations, including auxiliary and support equipment; combined-cycle and peaker experience is mandatory unless the Klamath PTO/SPTO qualification path has been completed.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to understand and follow environmental, health, and safety procedures, drawings, and technical manuals.
• Successful respiratory evaluation and fit test, plus a current Oregon driver's license.
• Strong communication, teamwork, committee participation, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, technical writing, and spreadsheet development.

Nice to have

• Associate or bachelor's degree.
• Steam plant, gas turbine, water treatment, or process control technical training.
