Solar & BESS Technician II

Location: Dateland, Arizona, United States; onsite at a solar and energy storage power plant. Requires daily travel to facilities up to three hours away in a company-provided vehicle, overnight travel approximately 10% of the time, overtime, and call-in response.

What you will do

• Perform assigned operations and maintenance activities for solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage projects.
• Carry out or assist with preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on inverters, transformers, battery modules, and AC/DC collection and distribution systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, calibrate instrumentation, and perform basic inverter troubleshooting.
• Execute equipment clearances and safety permits, including lockout/tagout, job safety analysis, work authorization, confined space, and hot work procedures.
• Operate electrical and mechanical plant systems and maintain facility compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
• Prepare or assist with plant orders, procedures, operating instructions, and maintenance documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience as a PV O&M technician or at least five years of experience in a power plant.
• Experience with PV or BESS system installation and knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals.
• Experience with electrical systems and basic safety principles, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English; ability to use standard business software.
• Ability to work outdoors and around energized or rotating equipment, hazardous materials, chemicals, heights, uneven terrain, and variable temperatures; ability to walk up to two miles daily and lift 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent journeyman qualifications.
• Experience with SCADA and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Spanish or Portuguese communication skills.
