Lead, Project Engineer (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Lead multiple capital, reliability, automation, capacity, quality, and cost-reduction projects from concept through commissioning and closeout.
• Develop business cases, feasibility assessments, equipment concepts, layouts, cost estimates, schedules, budgets, and risk plans.
• Specify and integrate manufacturing equipment, utilities, material-handling systems, tooling, guarding, piping, structural modifications, and plant infrastructure.
• Manage procurement, technical bid evaluations, contractors, installation planning, shutdown activities, commissioning, qualification, and performance verification.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Procurement, Finance, suppliers, and plant leadership to improve OEE, capacity, reliability, ergonomics, scrap, downtime, and process stability.
• Communicate project status, risks, decisions, recovery plans, and compliance requirements while ensuring safe and maintainable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• At least eight years of progressive engineering experience, including capital project responsibility in manufacturing, industrial, process, or high-volume production environments.
• Proven experience leading concurrent projects through scope development, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and closeout.
• Working knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing equipment, utilities, machine guarding, contractor management, and project cost and schedule controls.
• Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment and coordinate with operations, maintenance, technical teams, contractors, and external partners.
• Employment requires completion of Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification in the United States; temporary work authorization or the need for sponsorship may disqualify candidates.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer, Project Management Professional, Lean/Six Sigma, or equivalent credentials.
• Experience in tire, rubber, automotive, chemicals, heavy industrial, or similarly complex manufacturing.
• Experience with automation, robotics, controls integration, material handling, process equipment, or reliability engineering.
• Proficiency with CAD, project scheduling, cost estimating, Lean, Kaizen, TPM, OEE, or Six Sigma methods.
