Director of Energy (Energy Management)

Location: Houston, TX or Cleveland, OH; hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office

What you will do

• Develop and execute the hirify.global Merchant Gases energy sourcing, cost optimization, risk management, and decarbonization strategy.
• Manage electricity procurement across regulated and deregulated North American markets, including renewable, nuclear, and other low-carbon energy sources.
• Create and maintain plant energy cost models covering energy, capacity, transmission, ancillary, and related charges.
• Monitor energy markets, regulations, plant consumption patterns, and energy efficiency performance.
• Manage energy contracts, transactions, demand response, curtailment, and continuity of supply.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, supply chain, business development, sales, product management, and senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of related work experience.
• Deep knowledge of electricity markets in North America, including regulated and deregulated markets.
• Understanding of industrial gas operations and the impact of electricity costs on gas and liquid supply chains.
• Knowledge of commercial agreements, accounting principles, plant operating budgets, regulatory cost allocation, rate classes, and rate design.
• Strong analytical, communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and team collaboration skills.
