Geotechnical Drilling Assistant

Location: St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. Onsite field and construction work with travel of up to 50–75%, including occasional short-notice assignments, weekend work, and night work.

Salary: $45,000–$74,000 per year.

What you will do

• Assist the Crew Chief with all aspects of geotechnical drilling operations.
• Collect soil, rock, and groundwater samples and record field data.
• Organize and submit completed samples and documentation to the Project Manager.
• Maintain drilling tools, equipment, vehicles, and required compliance documentation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs.
• Follow PPE, safety, vehicle operation, paperwork, and training requirements.

Requirements

• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs.
• Ability to communicate professionally, stay organized, solve problems, and work with changing priorities.
• Ability to work outdoors in field and construction settings across varied terrain and weather conditions.
• Ability to travel up to 50–75% and work a full-time schedule that may include weekends and nights.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions in English; successful completion of driving, drug screening, background, and motor vehicle record checks required.

Nice to have

• Prior geotechnical drilling experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a CDL license within 90 days.
