IT Solutions Engineer – AI, Automation & Cloud

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States (hybrid). US citizenship required; ability to obtain a government clearance may be required.

Salary: $65,600–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Build internal tools, automations, workflows, scripts, integrations, and lightweight applications.
• Apply spec-driven development and responsible AI-assisted research, design, development, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Improve Microsoft 365 services, including Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Power Platform, Copilot, and Azure.
• Support production systems across Microsoft/Azure and AWS, including APIs, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, monitoring, identity, and security controls.
• Partner with business users to identify pain points, prioritize opportunities, and deliver adopted solutions.
• Maintain secure, reliable, documented IT operations aligned with CMMC, ISO 27001, and ISO 20000.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity, collaboration tools, or modern IT operations.
• Experience building automations, workflows, scripts, integrations, internal tools, or low-code solutions.
• Ability to work across Microsoft/Azure and AWS and support production workloads responsibly.
• Ability to turn ambiguous requests into specifications, prototypes, tested solutions, and documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and user empathy skills.
• Knowledge of security, access control, least privilege, audit evidence, and compliance-conscious operations.

Nice to have

• Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, or similar development experience.
• Experience with AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Azure AI, OpenAI-based tools, or AI-powered internal assistants.
• AWS services, AWS GovCloud, Microsoft GCC High, Infrastructure as Code, GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD, and DevOps experience.
• Government contracting or experience with CMMC, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, NIST SP 800-171, or regulated environments.
