Staff Engineer - DevSecOps (AI)

Location: Alameda, California; remote work from Alameda, California; remote options are listed. Occasional travel of 5% may be required.

Salary: $148,000–$210,500 annually, with the range varying by U.S. geographic market.

What you will do

• Build AI-assisted development tools, including coding copilots and agentic coding tools.
• Design, implement, and improve security solutions, AI guardrails, and operating procedures.
• Identify vulnerabilities and strengthen the security of applications, cloud platforms, AI infrastructure, and enterprise systems.
• Investigate and respond to malware infections, unauthorized access attempts, and other security incidents.
• Monitor and analyze security logs, contain threats, document findings, and escalate issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and partners on cybersecurity practices and technology initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of related experience, master’s degree with 5 years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience operating and implementing cybersecurity tools and managing security controls in cloud platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of AWS, infrastructure as code, SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, cybersecurity technologies, and concepts.
• Experience with IAM, VPC, Zero Trust, IaaS, security groups, key management services, network security, cloud security, and application security.
• Advanced CLI and scripting experience, including Python or PowerShell, plus experience with incident investigations and response.
• Ability to work with confidential data, collaborate effectively, operate with minimal guidance, and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to have

• CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, GIAC, or a similar cybersecurity certification.
• Technical lead experience.
• Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical environments and knowledge of GxP and SOX compliance.
