Senior Backend Application Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote-US; fully remote work with potential for hybrid co-working

Salary: $150,000–$210,000 per year plus meaningful stock options

What you will do

• Architect and build fault-tolerant web services and ETL pipelines for high-throughput workloads.
• Design and scale systems handling tens of thousands or more transactions per second.
• Develop platform features for security, product, engineering, and compliance teams.
• Improve system performance and integrate new technologies across engineering systems.
• Build monitoring, testing, and deployment strategies for mission-critical services.
• Collaborate with product management, designers, engineers, and external stakeholders while supporting recruiting and onboarding.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on web services and ETL systems.
• Experience scaling high-volume, data-intensive systems.
• Expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architectures.
• Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with commercial SaaS or on-premises products serving external customers.
• Strong communication skills and experience in early-stage B2B SaaS startups.

Nice to have

• Strong experience with MongoDB and other data stores.
• Familiarity with AI/ML, LLMs, and model tuning.
• Experience in information security, red teaming, or broader cybersecurity.
• Experience with SCA, DAST, SAST, and other SDLC security or DevSecOps tooling.
