Senior Test Engineer (Hardware)

Location: Hybrid role based in the testing lab in Annapolis, Maryland, United States. Five days per week onsite during initial training and onboarding, transitioning to three to four days per week onsite after ramp-up.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 annual base salary

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain hardware and firmware for Hardware-in-the-Loop test fixtures.
• Execute system, regression, and low-power tests for embedded firmware deployments.
• Diagnose signal-level issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and function generators.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and cloud teams to identify root causes and validate fixes.
• Develop CI-triggered automated test workflows and maintain traceability between requirements and tests.
• Prepare formal test reports and procedures while improving test coverage, product quality, and process effectiveness.

Requirements

• Six years of professional test engineering experience with embedded systems.
• Availability to work onsite in Annapolis five days per week during onboarding and three to four days per week thereafter.
• Experience validating low-power embedded systems, firmware, communication protocols, and diagnostic hardware.
• Python or similar scripting experience for test automation, plus Git and firmware build experience.
• Experience with HIL environments, CI/CD, regression testing, AWS IoT, and AWS CloudWatch.
• Ability to design two- to four-layer PCBs in Altium or an equivalent tool, solder and assemble test fixtures, source components, and order PCBs for prototypes.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Lambda, RF testing, or environmental stress testing.
• Experience operating 3D printers and light-duty CNC machinery for prototype fabrication.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, Agile workflows, and CI/CD pipelines for firmware.
• Ability to analyze interactions across hardware, firmware, and wireless layers.
