TL;DR
Test Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and building electrical ground support equipment and test software for spacecraft avionics with an accent on LabVIEW, embedded systems, test automation, and analog/digital interfaces. Focus on integrating flight-like units, executing functional and environmental test campaigns, troubleshooting anomalies, and developing controlled test documentation for mission readiness.

Location: Onsite in Phoenix, Arizona, United States

Salary: $75,000–$120,000 annually

Company

hirify.global develops aerospace systems and electrical ground support equipment for spacecraft avionics and other mission-critical applications.

What you will do

  • Design and build electrical ground support equipment (EGSE), including COTS instrument setups, custom test boxes, panels, cabling, and harnesses.
  • Develop LabVIEW interfaces and VIs for instrument control and telemetry, plus Python or Perl automation scripts and embedded test code integrations.
  • Integrate test systems with flight-like units, embedded single-board computers, analog and digital I/O, command and data handling systems, and power-switching use cases.
  • Create integration and test plans, environmental test plans, acceptance test procedures, schematics, and bills of materials under configuration control.
  • Execute functional and environmental test campaigns, troubleshoot anomalies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with systems, firmware, manufacturing test, and program management teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of aerospace or defense test engineering experience with hands-on ownership of EGSE hardware, software, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in at least one of LabVIEW, C, Python, or Perl; experience with production-grade instrument control, embedded systems, or test automation.
  • Experience selecting and integrating COTS instruments such as power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition systems, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience designing custom test fixtures, cable assemblies, schematics, and parts lists.
  • Ability to write clear acceptance test procedures and integration and test plans, debug analog and digital interfaces, read schematics, and interpret telemetry.
  • This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with VxWorks, cPCI single-board computers, command and data handling architectures, or electrical power system backplanes.
  • Experience with VHDL/FPGA interface testing, cable and harness design, EMI/EMC practices, or environmental testing.
  • Experience with Intercept Mozaix or similar schematic, bill-of-materials, and document-control tools.

Culture & Benefits

  • Structured onboarding, mentorship, and exposure to multiple spacecraft programs.
  • Training on hirify.global-specific tools, power architectures, and advanced LabVIEW frameworks.
  • Technical progression toward lead or architect EGSE roles and mentoring responsibilities.
  • Potential annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, open paid time off, and region-specific benefits.
