Senior RF Test Engineer (High-Power RF)

hirify.global develops the SPARC fusion plant, which uses high-power RF systems to heat plasma and sustain fusion reactions.

What you will do

• Lead power-on, debugging, and validation of custom PCB assemblies, embedded digital controllers, and low-level electronics.
• Operate and troubleshoot high-power RF transmitters, high-voltage infrastructure, and supercapacitor banks safely.
• Integrate measurement circuits, timing systems, sensors, and control software with central data collection and control networks.
• Design, assemble, and manage fixturing for Factory Acceptance Testing and oversee test execution.
• Develop repeatable test procedures and train engineering technicians on routine testing and steady-state operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience testing high-power RF systems, radar, particle accelerators, electric vehicles, or heavy industrial power electronics.
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage components, energy storage, and component-level analog and digital circuit troubleshooting.
• Experience reading RF circuit designs using Altium or similar tools and setting up automated test environments in high-noise conditions.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python, including the ability to understand software deployments before testing.
• Ability to work on-site in an industrial facility, lift up to 50 pounds, and work around heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.

Nice to have

• Experience designing test fixtures, writing FAT protocols, and setting up automated data acquisition systems.
• Experience measuring forward and reflected RF power, diagnosing RF arcs, and validating arc-mitigation timing systems.
• Experience writing custom test software for laboratory equipment and system validation.
• Systems-level understanding of embedded digital controllers, high-speed communications, and mechanical and thermal design.
