Machine Integration Intern (Robotics)

Developing and deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction equipment to improve job-site safety and accelerate critical infrastructure projects.

What you will do

• Integrate sensors, compute, and wiring onto heavy construction machines with the hardware team.
• Design brackets, enclosures, and interface hardware in CAD, then support fabrication and installation.
• Build test stands for validating subsystems before field deployment.
• Run lab tests, capture data, and iterate designs based on test results.
• Document build and installation procedures and collaborate with the field team on machine performance.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar.
• Hands-on shop experience building physical equipment.
• Basic electrical skills, including harnesses, connectors, multimeters, and schematic reading.
• Willingness to work on and around heavy equipment while wearing PPE.

Nice to have

• Experience designing or manufacturing wiring harnesses.
• Exposure to off-highway, automotive, or industrial equipment.
• Machining, welding, or 3D printing experience.
