Summer 2027 Engineering Intern (Advanced Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to design, analyze, and test mechanical or structural components.
• Develop software tools, automation workflows, and simulation models that improve engineering and manufacturing efficiency.
• Conduct research, collect data, and perform technical analysis to solve engineering challenges.
• Prototype and validate parts using the DAPS workflow, including additive manufacturing and robotic assembly.
• Document processes, results, and recommendations, then present project outcomes at the end of the internship.

Requirements

• Ability to work onsite in Torrance, California.
• 40+ hours per week for 12 consecutive weeks during summer 2027.
• Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following areas: CAD tools such as CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks; programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB; or simulation software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or COMSOL.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, independent-working, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Leadership in Formula SAE, Baja, Hyperloop, rocket, UAV, or design teams.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies or robotics.
• Experience with automation, control systems, data visualization, advanced manufacturing, or product development.
