Technical Lead Developer (Python/TypeScript)

Location: Leeds, United Kingdom. Hybrid working model available, with required travel to client sites anywhere in the UK when needed. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Lead technical teams and define technical strategy and architecture across multiple services.
• Design, develop, and maintain digital services, including new features and run-and-maintain activities.
• Contribute hands-on code using Python, TypeScript, and related technologies.
• Drive quality assurance, code reviews, best practices, and process optimisation.
• Lead projects through analysis, design, implementation, and QA while managing technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach developers and collaborate with Product, UCD, and Delivery teams.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical teams and defining architecture for multiple services.
• Full-stack or backend experience with Python and TypeScript or similar technologies.
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud infrastructure and Terraform infrastructure as code.
• Experience delivering UK Government digital services and understanding the GDS/NHS Service Standard and assessment process.
• Strong communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, and technical decision-making skills.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to travel to UK client sites when required.

• Experience delivering digital services in multidisciplinary product teams.
• Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design, including WCAG standards.
• Experience working in complex organisations with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
