Field Engineer - Transit Technology

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; fully remote working model with approximately 50% travel to customer transit locations nationwide and occasional in-person offsites.

Salary: Up to $95,000 per year, plus an approximately 12% bonus.

Develops and deploys Intelligent Transit Systems for transit agencies, including onboard hardware and integrated transportation technology.

What you will do

• Own customer deployments from preparation and scope definition through installation, validation, and post-installation documentation.
• Prepare work packages, test equipment, conduct vehicle surveys, and coordinate technical approvals and installation activities.
• Install, integrate, troubleshoot, and support onboard systems such as touchscreens, passenger counters, routers, and other transit technology.
• Manage installation teams and third-party subcontractors during field deployments.
• Coordinate with customers, vendors, project management, procurement, production, field services, software engineering, and product teams.
• Perform quality assurance and contribute to system redesign, wiring optimization, integration improvements, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• At least 2–3 years of relevant engineering or technical deployment experience.
• Hands-on understanding of low-voltage systems and basic electrical testing and troubleshooting on transit vehicles.
• Experience owning end-to-end technical system deployment projects and coordinating installation teams or subcontractors.
• Ability to prepare, understand, and explain project deliverables, including Statements or Scopes of Work.
• Strong technical communication skills with customers, internal teams, and external vendors.
• Ability to perform basic IT activities such as network and router configuration; training is provided.

Nice to have

• Background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with 2D CAD.
