Payroll Specialist (Portugal)

What you will do

• Execute full-cycle, in-house monthly payroll, including absences, allowances, and overtime.
• Manage Workday and SAP Payroll data synchronization, audits, troubleshooting, integrations, and user acceptance testing.
• Analyze workflows and implement automation to reduce manual work and operational risk.
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese labor laws, collective agreements, tax regulations, Social Security, IRS, garnishments, and annual statutory reporting.
• Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate payroll data.
• Support managers and employees with complex payroll queries, HR policies, and People Team projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on end-to-end payroll experience specifically in Portugal.
• Advanced knowledge of both Workday HCM/Payroll and SAP Payroll is mandatory.
• Advanced MS Office and Excel skills, including complex data analysis, financial reconciliations, and custom reporting.
• Deep knowledge of Portuguese payroll taxes, Social Security deductions, benefits, and year-end compliance.
• Full professional fluency in written and spoken English, with strong communication, attention to detail, confidentiality, and stress-management skills.
