Lead Data Architect (Databricks)

What you will do

• Design end-to-end data architectures and strategies for customer projects.
• Lead technical teams, review designs, solve complex problems, and guide day-to-day architectural decisions.
• Run customer workshops, design sessions, and architecture reviews as a trusted technical advisor.
• Support pre-sales and proposal work by scoping technical effort, validating estimates, and contributing technical content.
• Stay hands-on with code, Databricks, and cloud platforms to validate architecture decisions.
• Apply agile, DevOps, DataOps, lakehouse, data mesh, governance, and security practices while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Experience designing and delivering production data platforms for real customer projects.
• Consulting mindset with the ability to structure ambiguous problems, facilitate workshops, and translate business needs into technical direction.
• Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS, lakehouse architectures, distributed processing, data modeling, containerization, and data governance.
• Strong technical leadership, ownership, communication, and commitment to clean, maintainable systems.
• Excellent German and English communication skills are required.
• Degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow.
