Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS and Azure)

Location: Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; candidates must already be based in Brisbane or be prepared to relocate.

Salary: AUD 170,000–180,000 per annum plus superannuation.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Develop secure networking solutions using VPCs, VNets, subnets, routing, DNS, VPNs, and private connectivity.
• Configure firewalls, security groups, and broader cloud security controls.
• Build and improve Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK and TypeScript.
• Support cloud migration, platform modernisation, CI/CD, monitoring, and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, improve system reliability, and collaborate with international engineering teams.

Requirements

• At least five years of commercial cloud engineering experience across AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, including VPCs, VNets, routing, DNS, and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience managing firewalls and network security controls; Palo Alto experience is advantageous.
• Hands-on Infrastructure-as-Code experience and familiarity with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• AWS or Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
• Knowledge of zero-trust security, private networking, and network segmentation.
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Prometheus.
