Automation & Controls Integration Manager (PLC/HMI)

Location: Waynesboro, Virginia, USA. On-site role with approximately 10–20% travel for client meetings, commissioning, and support.

hirify.global provides custom-engineered industrial refrigeration and process cooling systems using natural refrigerants such as ammonia and CO₂, with engineering, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, service, and customer support performed in-house.

What you will do

• Lead the PLC engineering team through task assignment, performance evaluation, mentorship, and technical guidance.
• Oversee programming and deployment of PLC/HMI-based control systems.
• Develop operating sequences according to client and project specifications.
• Schedule engineering work around field and shop requirements and coordinate project execution with internal departments and executive leadership.
• Present controls upgrade and facility expansion solutions and build long-term client relationships.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues on-site and remotely and support commissioning activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Electronics Engineering.
• At least 5 years of controls engineering experience, including PLC/HMI systems.
• Experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
• Strong team leadership, mentoring, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Industrial refrigeration or HVAC experience.
• Advanced PLC programming and SCADA systems knowledge.
• Industrial project management experience.
• Familiarity with natural refrigerants, sustainability practices, or automation and project management certifications.
