Energy & Sustainability Engineer (Industrial Refrigeration)

Location: Lyndhurst, Virginia, USA; occasional travel to customer sites, industrial facilities, mechanical rooms, and cold storage areas is required.

What you will do

• Develop energy models to assess and improve the efficiency of industrial refrigeration systems.
• Analyze new and existing systems, performance data, and energy usage to identify efficiency opportunities.
• Recommend practical, cost-effective solutions and support the implementation of energy conservation measures.
• Advise customers, deliver energy-efficiency training, and host monthly webinars through Microsoft Teams.
• Conduct occasional site assessments, facility walkthroughs, equipment inspections, and customer energy audits.
• Prepare reports, utility rebate documentation, and regulatory compliance materials while collaborating with engineering, service, and project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret performance data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and technical software tools.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to walk through industrial sites, enter loud mechanical rooms, and work in cold storage areas while using appropriate PPE.

Nice to have

• Experience or interest in energy efficiency, sustainability, industrial system optimization, industrial refrigeration, or HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with ENERGY STAR tools, utility benchmarking, energy reporting, energy codes, or regulatory requirements.
• Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, or similar certification.
