TL;DR
Electrical Engineer Intern (Avionics) (Aerospace/Avionics): Supporting the design, development, integration, and testing of aviation electrical and electronic products with an accent on circuit cards, FPGA, RF, embedded systems, and laboratory testing. Focus on hardware and FPGA bring-up, verification, troubleshooting, measurement analysis, and engineering documentation in a regulated aerospace environment.

What you will do

  • Support electrical, electronic, hardware, firmware, FPGA, and RF engineering activities for aerospace and avionics applications.
  • Assist with circuit card requirements, schematic capture, simulation, design reviews, hardware integration, and testing.
  • Contribute to FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog, including RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and implementation.
  • Develop and execute simulation, verification, board-level, integration, regression, and troubleshooting tests.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
  • Analyze test data and maintain engineering requirements, specifications, procedures, test results, and design documentation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Foundational knowledge of analog or digital circuits, electronic hardware, digital logic, programmable logic, RF, microwave, electromagnetics, communications, embedded systems, or computer architecture.
  • Understanding of the engineering development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, verification, and documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and work safely with laboratory equipment.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person to access information, technology, software, or hardware subject to U.S. export control laws.

Nice to have

  • Junior or senior standing, graduate study, recent graduation, or prior internship and project experience in electrical hardware, firmware, FPGA, or RF engineering.
  • Experience with VHDL, Verilog, FPGA tools such as Vivado or Quartus, or simulation tools such as ModelSim, ADS, AWR, or HFSS.
  • Familiarity with Python or Tcl, digital interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, AXI, Ethernet, or DDR, and embedded processors or microcontrollers.
  • Knowledge of RF concepts, electronic and RF laboratory equipment, or avionics technologies such as TCAS, transponders, TAWS, and ADS-B.
