EMC Engineering Intern (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Redondo Beach, California, for the duration of the 12-week internship

Compensation: $32.00 per hour, with overtime eligibility

What you will do

• Support electromagnetic compatibility workflows for spacecraft components and system-level development.
• Optimize in-house EMC automation and drive semi-anechoic chamber bring-up and inter-chamber repeatability.
• Analyze and simulate radiated emissions, surface charging, and radiation performance.
• Conduct component-level and system-level EMC testing according to MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464.
• Develop test plans and reports, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with RF, avionics, mechanical, software, and other engineering groups.
• Operate and integrate spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF amplifiers, oscilloscopes, and related laboratory equipment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Understanding of circuit theory and electromagnetic fundamentals.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with RF test equipment.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite in Redondo Beach, California, throughout the internship.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR regulations.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of radiated, conducted, and transient testing.
• Python scripting experience.
• Understanding of antenna principles, link budgets, desense, S-parameters, transmission line theory, and amplifiers.
• Experience with EMC design guidelines, best practices, or simulation tools such as EMC Plus, ADS, CST, or HFSS.
