Avionics Engineering Intern (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

What you will do

• Contribute to avionics hardware development for next-generation rocket electronics.
• Support hardware test campaigns and validation activities.
• Generate production assets to help accelerate rocket manufacturing.
• Work with the Neutron Avionics hardware development group on Archimedes engine and flight safety destruct system hardware.
• Collaborate with mentors and department employees while providing regular progress updates.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• At least 3 months of applied engineering experience through internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Long Beach for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
• For U.S. office work, meet applicable ITAR access requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility for required government authorizations.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• At least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• CAD/CAM, Python, GD&T, or FEA experience.
• Experience with ANSYS, Siemens NX, Altium, or electrical and electromechanical hardware.
