Supplier Quality Engineer - Mechanical

Location: Hatfield, Pennsylvania, United States of America. The role is based at the company headquarters and requires domestic and international travel for supplier site audits, including trips of up to two weeks.

What you will do

• Conduct audits of existing and prospective mechanical-part suppliers, evaluating inspection methods, manufacturing processes, and quality-system capability.
• Analyze defective materials, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers, engineering, and purchasing.
• Coordinate supplier and new-product approval processes, including first article inspection, testing, and product qualification.
• Review and maintain process FMEAs, gauge R&R studies, control plans, sampling plans, inspection procedures, and calibration requirements.
• Maintain supplier quality assurance documentation, certification systems, performance measurement, and ISO 9001 audit activities.
• Support cost reduction, alternate sourcing, new material and design evaluations, and cross-functional continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of industry experience, including at least 2 years in supplier quality or supply chain management.
• Experience with spreadsheet, database, and statistical software.
• Knowledge of mechanical materials and finishes, machining and forming, inspection methods, ANSI documentation, and GD&T is preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, initiative, and cross-functional teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for supplier audits.

Nice to have

• Project management experience or ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor, or Supplier Quality Professional.
• Training or experience in DOE, SPC, TQM, ISO 9001, AS9100, lead auditing, lean manufacturing, root-cause problem solving, or value analysis.
• Knowledge of RoHS and REACH requirements.
