Propulsion Systems Chief Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Buffalo, New York, United States

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 annually

What you will do

• Serve as the technical authority for propulsion system products and programs across development, production, and sustainment.
• Lead complex multidisciplinary engineering programs and approve technical content, design decisions, qualification activities, and engineering deliverables.
• Develop technology roadmaps, product strategies, and long-term engineering plans with business and engineering leadership.
• Ensure compliance with engineering processes, industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Make technical decisions related to product performance, reliability, safety, quality, production, and field issues.
• Mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, and drive continuous improvement across engineering practices and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including leadership of complex aerospace, defense, propulsion, or electromechanical systems programs.
• Expertise in product development, system design, qualification, verification, lifecycle support, requirements management, risk management, and design assurance.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and serving as a technical authority across organizational boundaries.
• Experience with aerospace and defense standards, product qualification, and mission-critical system development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance if required; the role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Recognized expertise in propulsion, actuation, aerospace systems, controls, or related technologies.
• Previous experience as a Chief Engineer, Technical Director, Lead Systems Engineer, or equivalent technical leader.
• Customer-facing experience supporting aerospace, defense, or government programs.
• Active U.S. Government security clearance.
