Focus on scaling missions from 6 to 30+ per year, guiding a growing engineering team, and driving vehicle roadmap, automation, testing, and flight operations improvements.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $175,000–$205,000 per year

hirify.global Space develops in-space transportation vehicles that deliver payloads to orbits beyond and within Low Earth Orbit.

What you will do

  • Lead a team of responsible engineers working on the Mira spacecraft across mechanical and vehicle-level systems engineering.
  • Connect propulsion, avionics, manufacturing, and integration hardware groups to deliver recurring Mira vehicles on schedule.
  • Own technical work involving primary and secondary structures, deployable mechanisms, and payload accommodations.
  • Support mission management, mission design, and customers across active missions, new mission onboarding, and capability studies.
  • Scale Mira missions from 6 per year to more than 30 per year.
  • Shape the product roadmap through block upgrades, performance improvements, process development, and automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated results developing, testing, and flying spacecraft, launch vehicles, or comparable flightworthy vehicles.
  • Expert technical knowledge of spacecraft structures, mechanisms, pressure systems, or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience managing and growing a small engineering team.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills across multiple engineering groups.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in lead roles on spacecraft development.
  • Ownership of spacecraft technical development from conceptualization and system trades through design, analysis, testing, integration, and flight operations.
  • Experience solving multidisciplinary problems in a startup or agile, hands-on hardware environment.
