Chief Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Folsom, CA; Reno, NV; Huntsville, AL; Long Beach, CA; or Remote - United States

Salary: $195,000–$250,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end technical lifecycle execution for solid rocket propulsion system programs.
• Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams through design reviews, qualification milestones, and production-readiness activities.
• Manage critical-path execution, resource conflicts, schedule performance, and alternative execution strategies.
• Establish and maintain lean technical scope baselines while monitoring cost performance and evaluating budget changes.
• Serve as the primary technical spokesperson for internal and external stakeholders, presenting program material and technical alternatives.
• Ensure customer requests remain within authorized scope and align technical execution with cost and schedule requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 15 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years of technical leadership in solid rocket motors.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams through rigorous design reviews and qualification milestones.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR and EAR requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 25% and lift, move, or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• At least four years leading controllable solid rocket propulsion system projects.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams of at least 10 people.
• Current DoD Secret security clearance.
