Location: Vandenberg SLC-2, United States; onsite launch-site work required

Salary: $145,000–$175,000 per year

What you will do

  • Lead operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of launch pad fluids, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Manage hiring, training, onboarding, and day-to-day technical leadership for the launch operations engineering team.
  • Coordinate design reviews and system upgrades with engineers, technicians, external partners, customers, and site personnel.
  • Validate launch pad and flight vehicle system integrity, readiness, and performance for launch campaigns.
  • Support launch console operations, launch-day closeout activities, anomaly investigations, and non-conformance resolution.
  • Develop operating procedures and maintenance strategies that maximize system availability and minimize downtime.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with fluids, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, tooling, flight hardware, or test systems.
  • 2+ years of personnel management experience.
  • Experience designing, building, troubleshooting, or operating complex fluid or pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&ID schematics, and test data and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Must be eligible to work with U.S. Government space technology under ITAR: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with console operations, launch vehicle operations, or integrated vehicle and pad operations.
  • Familiarity with SVN, Bitbucket, Python, LabView, Matlab, AFSPCMAN 91-710, or RCC 319/324.
  • Experience supporting launch proposals or developing and operating launch vehicles.
