Senior Actuarial Analyst (Healthcare Analytics)

Location: Remote within the United States; occasional travel to Boston, Massachusetts is required for new-hire onboarding, team meetings, and company events.

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 annually, plus benefits and bonus.

What you will do

• Own and maintain client-facing reporting on cost savings, outcomes, and performance across prior authorization programs and specialty areas.
• Build, maintain, quality-control, and scale actuarial models and methodologies for new clients and lines of business.
• Analyze authorization and claims data to identify trends, cost drivers, utilization effects, and opportunities to improve customer value.
• Design impact evaluations and post-implementation assessments using cohorts, benchmarks, pre/post analysis, difference-in-differences, quasi-experimental methods, and sensitivity analyses.
• Reconcile authorization-based impact with realized claims and explain month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter changes.
• Present executive-level findings to customers and leadership while documenting assumptions, methodologies, mappings, and code for reproducible and auditable work.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in actuarial work or healthcare analytics across payer, provider, managed care, or consulting environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field, plus at least two completed SOA exams.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and delivering client-facing reports and models measuring impact, savings, and performance.
• Proficiency with SQL, Excel, a visualization tool such as Tableau, and an analytics language such as Python, R, or SAS.
• Working knowledge of healthcare cost drivers and medical claims or authorization data, with strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to present findings to external customers and internal leadership and explain assumptions, drivers, and implications.

Nice to have

• Experience with prior authorization or utilization management workflows, data, and performance metrics.
• Familiarity with AWS S3, Athena, Spark, Airflow, or similar healthcare analytics and cloud tooling.
• Advanced quantitative degree, ASA credential, or experience presenting savings and impact results directly to external clients.
